Hyderabad has more facade companies than ever, and their brochures are largely interchangeable — the same renders, the same claims, the same "leading facade solutions." Having watched this market from the inside since 2006, we can tell you the brochures are the wrong place to look. Here are the seven questions that actually separate facade contractors, and the answers a serious one should give.
1. Do you own the factory?
A unitized facade is a manufactured product. If the company you hire doesn't own the line it is manufactured on, your panels are being built by a subcontractor you never chose, to a standard nobody you met controls. Ask for the factory address, then go and see it. A contractor proud of their factory will not need persuading.
2. Is the engineering in-house?
Shop drawings, structural calculations, thermal sizing — this is where a facade is actually decided. Outsourced engineering means every site query travels through a third party, and every mistake has two companies pointing at each other. Ours is in-house, which is also why we can sit at a concept-stage table and commit to what we draw.
3. Do you test what you build?
Any contractor can show a beautiful render. Ask instead: has this system been in a test chamber? Air, water, structural? Who witnessed it? A company that has never made a wall fail in a lab is planning to run that experiment on your building.
4. Who installs — your people or a labour contractor?
The tested performance of a facade survives only if installation matches the drawings. Day-rate labour that has never seen the system before is where good facades go to die. Our panels are hung by our own installation crews with our own lifting gear.
5. What happens after handover?
Gaskets age. Buildings settle. Someone's cricket ball finds the podium glass. The question is whether your contractor still answers the phone. Ask for the warranty terms in writing — ours is 15 years on the system, with a decade of aftercare — and ask for a client from ten years ago you can call.
6. What have you actually delivered?
Not renders — buildings. Ask for addresses you can drive past, and for the facade area actually executed. Our project list runs to 6.97 million square feet across Hyderabad and South India, from airport terminals to five-star hotels, and every building on it can be visited.
7. Will you still exist at handover?
A facade package runs one to three years. An underpriced bid from a thinly capitalised contractor is a delay bomb — the cheapest quote is worthless if the company folds mid-project. Check how long they have been trading, and how they behaved in the difficult years.
